From Ferry To Fairy, From Tail To Tale

Ferry Me Along The Conscious River
Until It Relieves Itself Into The Expanse Of The Unconscious Ocean,
I’ve Taken My Place Under The Covers
And Relinquished My Eyelids Of Their Duty.

I’ll Watch As The Ferry Carves A Tail In The Ocean Waves
Until I’m Hypnotized, And Find Myself With New Eyes,
Seeing Myself In A New Tale, Still Mine, Yet Hard To Define.

Let Adventure Ensue Along Trails With Strangers
Until I Find Myself In The Depths Of A Forest
At The Gate Of A Fairy.

Let The Fairy Tell Me My Tales With Twist & Bends
Until I Find Myself Wrapped Up In The Distortions,
Searching For Meaning, Searching For My Tail,
For The Gateway Back To My Ferry.

Let Me Rediscover My Tail And Find Myself With My Old Eyes
Looking Out Across The Great Expanse Of The Unconscious Ocean.

Ferry Me Back To The Conscious River
Where I Shall Reinstate My Eyelids To Their Duty
And Rise To Another Day.

The Word On The Word:
- Here's a take on the journey to the realm of dreams & back

  1. Nice play on tail and tale :) I always appreciate poems that involve a cycle. Birth and death then a rebirth. I take the hours of sleep both as a death as well as an awakening - into another realm where other lessons just as in the waking day must be taken.

  2. I agree that there are lessons to be take from dreams & I like the idea of it being a birth/death/rebirth cycle. Thanks for reading!
